I can't speak to the quality of the other colors, but I have been using Spotlight as a highlight for my cheek and brow bones for quite a while now. I get compliments all the time on my dewy skin and I attribute them to this little guy! It is pearlescent, but not sparkly or glittery at all which makes it look really natural. It blends well over liquid, mineral or mousse foundation and creates the nicest glow on my cheekbones. I have oily acne prone skin, but this has never irritated it or caused me to break out. The only down side is that I have received tubes that were watery. Don't give up on this product, when you get a good one you'll fall in love.
I've only used this three times but heres my thoughts so far... Im not extremely pale but I am fair skinned. I purchased this in Lilac Petal and my first thoughts were it would look great on my cheeks and as a highlight on my eyes. It hasn't been watery or anything so far.. I've read other reviews and watched youtube vids and noticed how most people says it can be watery unless you shake it up well. I havent had that problem yet. Its a very nice color as long as you blend it in very good and don't make it look unnatural. I use my foundation brush right now atm and I'd purchase this again, looking forward to trying toasted and citrus.
This may have been a great product. I wouldn't know, because when i first opened the packaging and tried to squeeze some out, the entire top fell off. Not just fell of, but cracked and the applicator/squeezer thing became unusable. This product now lies in a plastic bag in the bottom of my dresser, product spilling out everywhere in the bag. This product would be terrible for travel. Also, I tried using some by squeezing it out from the top, and another hole formed on the bottom. As for the actual product, I can't really tell I'm wearing it. It basically just stays on my fingers and my fingers are shimmery and my face looks the same.
I want to start off by saying that I LOVE this product. After watching a youtube video on shimmer pallettes, I wanted something to add a hint of glowiness to me. When I cam to e.l.f. on one of my makeup binges, I found these facial whips and for such a good price, it is a steal. I have them in "toasted" and in "golden peach." I got mine so that they were close to my skin color and it looks very natural once it is dabbed on. I don't know the skin tones of the other reviewers, but for the people who say that it doesn't blend well, it isn't foundation and you have to use it in moderation if you have really light or white skin so that it will look appealing and natural. Anywho, this is a product that I never want to run out of! I will reorder.
I recieved the LILAC PETAL shimmering facial whip free w/ an order. When I read "no greasy, sticky feel" on the label I didn't believe it. Well, I believe it now! I dab a very small amount onto my cheekbones(after applying blush), just below my eyes for a natural dewy look. I also apply just under my eyebrows and the inner corner of my eyes for a fresh, wide awake look(even when I am not!) This is great beauty staple to keep in your purse, use at home, or travel with!!! EVERYONE SHOULD BUY THIS!!! After all it only costs $1, which is unbelievable considering the quality and practicality of this amazing and long lasting little tube!
I was really disapointed when I opened this package. I tried to squeeze a tiny dot to test it on my hand, but instead, a bunch of water literally squirted out and got all over my hands and dripped onto my clothes. I tried to shake it and I tried to wait a few hours, but everytime I open it water would still squirt out like there's no tomorrow. You need to go through a messy stage before you can get a little bit of the product out. I guess the formula just isn't that great. The good thing about it is that a little goes a LOONNNGGG way. It would be too shimery to use on the face, but definately great as a base for shimery eyeshadows.
Got this in Lilac Petal. The color is definitely less pink than it appears on the website-- looks more like Toasted to me. But, I still like the color, so I suppose I got lucky. One unlucky thing, though -- attention ELF Quality Control people -- the tube arrived with a small crack near the base of the applicator (where the tube and applicator meet) so a considerable amount of product had leaked into the packaging. So, can't exactly throw this in my makeup bag or it will leak out onto everything. :( Besides that, it's a good product. To get that dewy look, I mix a little into my moisturizer. I really like it as an eyeshadow, too.
This is an all purpose product for me. You can use it anywhere, but i mainly use it on my eye lids. Sometimes, when you want to go for a simple more natural look i just pull this out and put a TINY TINY size on my finger tip and blend it over my eye lids. Less is definitely more with this product. When i don't want to do so much or i have only a couple minutes to get ready, this is a handy product. I bought it in Golden Peach and its sort of likee a glowy color with shimmer. I usually use ELF's mineral primer under this, so it doesnt crease for me. The tube is quite small, but you don't need much product so it will last a long time. Give this one a try ! :D
A LITTLE OF THIS PRODUCT GOES A LONG WAY. I HAVE TOASTED. IN THE PICTURE IT LOOKS LIKE A BROWN PINK KIND OF COLOR BUT IN REALITY ITS MORE LIKE A PURPLE BROWN COLOR. ITS EXTREMELY SHIMMERY AND LOOKS UNNATURAL ON SKIN. EVEN MEDIUM SKIN TONES. I TRY USING IT AS A HIGHLIGHTER ON MY CHEEKS AND I FIND IT HARD TO BLEND WITH MY BLUSH. I HAVEN'T TRIED IT ANYWHERE ELSE ON MY FACE YET BUT I WILL, TO SEE WHAT I CAN USE THIS FOR. THE GOOD THING ABOUT IT IS THAT IT IS NOT CAKEY AND IS VERY LIGHT AND PRETTY. NOT GREASY AND DIRES QUICKLY TOO. I ALSO DIDN'T FIND IT TO FADE EASILY. OVERALL I WOULD GET THIS AGAIN IF THE FIRST ONE EVER RUNS OUT.
I use this product as a cheek highlight to give some shine and color to my cheek bones. When I recieved the product, I was disappointed. The website showed the color(Pink Lemonade) as a very, very light pink. In actuality, the color is like a fuschia-ish tone. I use my finger to apply the product, which is also disappointing. The product gets all over my hands and makes them super glittery, and it's very difficult to get it off. Also, the facial whip makes my cheeks look greasy and oily because there is too much glitter/shimmers in the product. It's quite a hassle to apply it. On the bright side, this product is long lasting.
I started a couple years ago with 4 of these little, very portable tubes (P. Lemonade, Toasted, Persimmon & Camilla). I tried all the colors as blush/highlighter. They all worked ok, except that the Persimman separated and oil began to come out of the tube before any color. Had to toss it, cause it wouldn't mix back up & was therefore too greasy on my cheeks. The other colors are fine as long as you don't use too much. I use Toasted mostly as an eyeshadow base. If I put any brownish colors over it, the color stays forever. I've slept in it (not meaning to) and it was still there in the a.m.! Fine product for the Dollar...
These "pack a lil' more punch" than the all over color/shimmer sticks with the same names. The colors are ALMOST similar but they look pretty different on. The whips have A LOT more of a sheen/shiny-ness to them so they reflect a lot more light, giving your cheeks that coveted "dewy" look so many people are after. I have this in lilac petal and am ordering it in a few more colors. *Check out my review and pictures of the all over color sticks if you're interested in seeing the similarities and/or differences!*
I love this stuff. I bought Lilac Petal forever ago, I think with my first ELF order. I had no idea how to use it, so it sat in a drawer for quite a while. Then, a few months ago, I discovered an expensive brand's "pearl" product. I loved that stuff. Then I was thinking, "Hey, I have something like this from ELF." I went looking for it, and there it was. This is honestly just as good as the expensive product I have. After putting on foundation, I just dab it on my cheeks, forehead, and nose, sometimes before my bronzer and blush, sometimes after. It makes my skin look so pretty! This is definitely a staple for me now!
Don't get me wrong, I love this product! The only thing was that when I ordered it online and it arrived, I was a little disappointed. I've used similar products to this before and have loved them! It's cheap and the color is great! The only problem was when I opened it and squirted a little onto the back of my hand, all that came out was water. I literally sat there for 2-3 minutes just getting all the water out of the tube! Finally when I was able to get some color on my hand, the tube was almost empty. I had ordered the golden peach and loved it and when I opened the pink lemonade, it was all water! So be careful!
The star of my 1st ELF Haul!!! I love this product it goes great on my lips I just put a super small amount on my finger tips then apply to my lips then add gloss. I am an African american w/ darker skin so alot of the elf glosses shows up pretty nude on my lips. But when I put the whip on 1st I get gorgeous color that last and tons of compliments all day long!!! I ordered toasted and persimmon and cant wait to order one in each color. These tubes will last a long time since you really only need a small amount. Though I haven't figured out how to use them on my eyes or cheeks yet but that may be b/c I'm too dark.
This stuff is great! So far I have it in Toasted, Persimmon, Pink Lemonade, and Golden Peach. Persimmon & Pink Lemonade are by far my favorite! Both work excellently as a blush - the colors look natural, add a good amount of pigmentation & some sparkle. The lighter shades (such as Toasted) work really well as a highlighted. As for Golden Peach, it would be a gorgeous highlighter on dark skin, but on my uber-pale face, it just looks orange and awkward. That's my bad, though - I should know my own skin color by now! I find that this works best as a blush/highlighted, rather than a lip gloss or eye shadow. On the eyes, it would crease instantly, and on the lips, it feels thin
I bought the product in Camilia (had good reviews on youtube) and used it as an eyeshadow base and it creased and faded out completely and tended to make the shadow clump to one side. Also the product arrived with the water part separated which I had to squeeze out and wasted the product a lot. I stopped using it and 6 months later I looked at the item and it looked like the water had turned orange. I have to basically throw it away coz I have no clue what kind of chemicals in it has caused it to change its property in that manner. I got another one in Toasted as a gift from elf but I haven't tried it yet although it seems to have some good reviews as a highlight for face.
I got this in pink lemonade. After receiving the product, I realize that I probably should have bought spotlight or other lighter colors. The color is quite pigmented and shimmering. So, when you put the shimmer around the cheekbones, not only does it give shimmer to the cheeks, it also adds colors on top of the blush, which is not what I want. I tried to use just a tiny bit of the product, but the shimmer becomes unnoticeable. I guess if I had gotten a lighter color, the colors won't show up this much. However, I am still not impress with the product. Will I purchase this produce in other colors? ... maybe not.
I used the Spotlight Shimmering Facial Whip as a highlighter around my eyes. It helped decrease the circles around my eyes and gave definition to my cheekbones. I wouldn't suggest to use a lot of it because the consistency is slightly oily for my preference. I used about two drops with my fingers around my eyes and cheekbones after applying my foundation and eye makeup. It does have shine to it but in a "take good pictures sort of way". It would be very useful to use when going out for the night. It does need to be reapplied if you are wanting to use it throughout the day but for the price it was well worth it.
I got this in Lilac pedal and let me tell you, its pink in the tube but when it touches skin it turns silver and really shimmery. I put it on my cheeks, lips, and eyes. All way too shimmery. It would look good if I were traveling into space with my silver outfit but i'm not and its just way to shimmery for me. It might look better in the darker colors. I understand that I got a really light color. It also might look better on a person with fair skin. My skin is medium olive and I probably just got the wrong color. Also too much can't be applied or else its to shimmery. Its also kinda hard to get off.
I adore this product! I bought it in persimmon, because I love rosy chicks, and it works absolutely amazingly, the shimmer effect is beautiful. I also have lilac petal, which works as a great eye shimmer with any eyeshadow. I am in the army and do alot of work in the field as a soldier, yet I still want to look beautiful. This is so natural looking in the lighter shades that is it regulation by Army standards. Also I look like a barbie doll, and it does the perfect trick to give me a dramatic look when I go out with friends at night! I've tried tons of blushes by MAC, urban decay, victoria's secret, etc. and none work as well and give a glow like this one! I'm buying all of the colors!
I ordered this in Spotlight, eager to use it as a highlight above my cheeks, down the center of my nose, and on my browbone. I was so disappointed to find that the color had separated from the liquid and no matter how long I tried to massage it back together in the tube, it didn't work. I had to squirt out a ton of liquid before it was even usable, which was a waste. I do like the color and the nice highlight it gives on the browbone, but it doesn't work as well on the cheeks as it isn't quite pigmented enough. They do have a nice scent. Maybe I just got a bad tube, but I would not order this again.
I got this as a free sample with my order in citrus. The texture at first was a little bit more watery than it should've been. But after some shaking it got to it's creamier texture. I used citrus all over my eye lid as a base. Then I used my own highlight shadow under my brow bone and in the inner corner of my eye. Citrus really provided a nice base and color (I have a light olive skin tone) and then I put some darker shadow in my crease. I didn't find that it creased at all and I was out all night! For 1 dollar you can't go wrong! Use it as a base or alone. I definitely want to try more colors.
I ordered one of these in the shade 'lilac petal'. I was very pleased with the shade. The product itself is a pretty good consistency. Its not thick, it has the consistency of liquid concealer. When applied, it blends pretty well so that it appears natural. I like using it as an eyeshadow base, on top of an eye primer. It feels a little sticky but its nothing that a setting powder can't fix. When I opened it for the first time, I didn't experience any water flowing out first like many others said here. Maybe I just got a good tube? Who knows. :) Its an excellent product and I would recommend it.
I got Lilac Petal and Spotlight, and the Lilac Petal looks really nice, but it's pretty hard to apply because it doesn't blend very easily. It really sticks to your face after you rub some on, and then it's hard to move it around and blend it in. The Spotlight was a TOTAL fail. It was super, super watery, and there was just no way I could use it. I use the Lilac Petal on my cheeks and it gives them a nice and dewy look. Plus, it smells nice! If you don't shake up the container first, though, you'll squeeze out pure liquid. Basically, you're getting what you paid for when it comes to this stuff!
My favorite color is "GOLDEN PEACH" i mix a small amount in with my foundation and then apply for a dewy look. The problems i have with this product is SOMETIMES the color and the shimmery liquid are are not whipped together. When this happens the product is extremely hard to apply. Also the colors on this site are always very decieving. " golden peach" matches my fair skin ( with a warm undertone) and " Toasted" is an ugly color that almost looks purple when you put it on your face. I love how inexpensive this product is and i apreciate the MINIMAL amount of sparkles you get for so much shine.
I really wasn't expecting to like this product at all when I bought it. Especially since it was so cheap. But boy was I wrong... I got this in Lilac Petal and use it in 4 different ways. As a highlighter in the corner of my eyes and under my brow bone (which it is PERFECT for), as a highlighter on the top of my cheek bones, and my personal favorite...on the lips. I used to use concealer or a certain brand's very expensive lipstick to get nude looking lips, but both were very drying and this is just perfect for creating a nude lip that makes my lips look kissable...not a dry mess, that I also happen to put my favorite ELF gloss over. =) I'm so happy with this product...seriously guys, BUY IT.
So I must be one of those people that gets the bad batch. Once my package arrived yesterday, the firstproduct I tried on had to be the shimmering facial whip. Once I took the lid off and turned it upside down, a bunch of watery white colored liquid poured out. I'm guessing this package had been sitting on the E.L.F. Shelf for too long. ;-) I am happy to say that 1 out of 3 of the shimmering facial whips worked well. Blended beautifully and added a shimmery finish to my blush. But because i could only use one out of three products, it was only about 33 % useful. I could only give it two stars.
I absolutely LOVE this product! Before I discovered it, I used a much more expensive product that hardly stood up to ELF's Facial Whip!! Now, I am able to stock up on ELF's Shimmering Facial Whip for much less!! This product is lightweight (not at all greasy like others), goes on smooth, and lasts all day--it's also the perfect size to take with you when traveling or when going out. When you're ready to remove it, all it takes is your usual face wash and water--it doesn't get any easier! I would recommend this product to anybody that wants great color without feeling weighed down or oily! [$]
I was not expecting the consistency to be as it is, "whip" does not imply what it is - it's more like a liquid foundation in texture. If you combined it with your foundation it would be good for highlighting. Although it does not last very long. I suppose I am used to my MAC Mineralize powder though. I do think for the cost the lilac petal is a steal, similar to the Benefit High Beam. (Not in any way purple at all, makes me wonder why they named it lilac???) It IS a bit over shimmery, but if you apply sparingly and blend well with a sponge or brush it doesnt appear too 'teeny bopper'esqe lol
