I was so excited to get these brushes, but they just didnt do much for me. They did apply the color fine, but the brushes shed like crazy. The first few times you use them they feel amazing, like the best brushes in the world. Which is probably why so many people have great reviews. They try them once and are like Holy, REVIEW TIME. But after about 5 times of using them, the bristles became uncomfortable; harsh and stiff. And I'd prefer not to lose a bunch of bristles while doing makeup! I do tend to take really good qualitiy of my brushes because I like my brushes to last long, as they do happen to get quite expensive. Overall I was not too impressed. I really wanted to be but it just didn't do it for me. Sorry!
They are VERY cheap brushes, and it is clear by the way your makeup looks after you use them. If you have ever used nice makeup brushes before, then you would be very dissatisfied with these brushes. The hair is very coarse, and it puts your makeup on very heavily. Also, they don't really put your makeup where you want it to go. Especially on the eyes. They are very poor brushes for making fine lines and shading. But for [$] each, the brushes are great. Of course, I think the brushes you use are the most important part of your makeup regime. If you have bad brushes, your makeup will look bad. So I recommend splurging on your brushes and getting the cheaper makeup instead.
I just had to leave a review on these brushes because they are amazing!!! They work so well, soft bristles, great look, and so cheap for how high quality and professional they are....these are def a must have, especially if you are debating whether to get the studio 30$ set or not....I bought a set of 6 brushes from a drugstore for 10$ and they did not blend my eyeshadow right or anything, these are 12 brushes for [$]and they are so professional and they blended my eyeshadow, foundation, blush and bronzer so well! I love them and plan on getting another set and the studio set too. Thanks elf, for having high quality makeup and tools for cheaper, can't find it anywhere else!
I was blown away at the price for all these brushes. 3 years ago I paid $20 to $30 for my professional brushes and these [$] brushes are exactly the same. They are cheap enough that they can be replaced more often for hygienic reasons, but the brushes also stand up to a good soap and water cleaning. I love the fact that now everyone can easily afford all the tools that are needed to create a beautifully made up face!I recommend every women to make this her first purchase from elf and then to get the rest of the makeup to use in conjuction with these wonderful tools to create a truly professional made up face.
I love these brushes! And for 12 brushes for [$], can it get any better? There's maybe one brush I don't like so much which is the total face brush but that's only because I have a $30 dollar one that's almost identical and when you compare the two the more expensive one is just a bit softer. But that's not to say that these brushes aren't great. Most of the eye brushes are somewhat stiff but that's okay for me because I don't like when my eyeliner/eyeshadow brushes are all soft and stuff haha. Anyway, the bottom line is that i really suggest you buy these brushes if you want good quality at a good price! :)
Ok, Being a licensed cosmetologist I try tons of product, due to the fact that I like to be inform when my customers ask question, I am a makeup addict. I've tried so many different brands and yet still find myself reaching for my e.l.f brushes I have purchased these individualy and now decided to order this set since i need to have several being a professional makeup artist. The 2 bigger brushes shed at first but no more than any other brush when its new, I definitely will continue shopping through elf for the brushes, and will recommend this to my friends and customers! Maybe elf could come out with some different colors besides white and brushes rolls with and without brushes.
This is definitely the best alternative to the higher priced, "professional" brushes. They work just as good. Very soft and very easy to handle. Each brush comes labeled on it's handle it's use and they come packaged in their own little packages with tips/instructions for their use on the back. The only complaint I had was that a couple had a lot of stray hairs. I would recommend washing them first to loosen up all the ones that are going to come out otherwise you'll end up with tiny hairs tickling your face or even in your eye and eyelashes like I did. I've washed them three times since my purchase and haven't experienced any more loss of the hairs. Definitely would recommend to others!
I like these brushes, they're soft and they're easy to clean and they're useful. Until now, I've only bought off brand drug store brushes. And when I found out about the amazing pricing on this set, I knew I had to get it. I got them today and I've noticed some pros and cons already. I love the design, the shimmery white handle is lovely looking and the bristles are soft and smooth. The packaging on the lip defining brush was kind of bad though, it was a tough plastic covering the bristles and it bent some of them downward because it wasn't put on properly. And the bronzer brush shed a tiny bit when I dusted it on my hand. But other than those two things, I love these brushes. They're great.
I bought this set of brushes back in about 2008-2009. Now in 2013 I am literally barely needing to buy new ones. The bristles came unattached to the wand the other day so here I am again on elf looking for a great deal on long lasting brushes. I cleaned and took care of mine and they always did the job for me. They tend to clump of of makeup so you have to always clean them especially the concealer one, but I found them to be very useful everyday brushes for a very long time. They were not the only brushes I used, but they are very needy evryday brushes that will last you for a good price.
I was a little nervous about getting these because of how inexpensive they are. I wasn't sure anything so cheap could possibly be quality! When they came in the mail, I had to try them out right away. They were perfect! I am so thrilled with every single brush in the set, and they are a super steal for the price! They are firm enough to pick up the makeup color but are soft enough not to be abrasive on your face. I did notice a little shedding from the rounded eyeshadow brush, but not enough to actually hurt anything, and I'm sure that will resolve itself after a few washes. Bravo, E.L.F!
I bought these brushes thinking that they would not be a great quality because of their price, but i am just a beginner and i do not need any expensive brushes. I just wanted a few basic bruches, and this seemed like exactly what i was looking for. They did the job, but the 2 red bristled brushes were very poor quality and had very rough bristles. As soon as i washed them, they sheded everywhere and once they dried, the bristles became frizzy. The 4 brown bristled brushes worked fine and shed a little during washing, but they do an okay job. The 2 orange bristled brushed worked great, washed great, did not shed, and are high quality. However, once i washed the brushed they had a very strong smell.
I have been a faithful servant to a kit of professional real wood brushes for a long time and now that I'm using loose powder foundation, my face brush falls short it works very good with compressed powder though (sign) well I was afraid cause for their price it worries you that they won't do much good. But I was pleasantly surprised when I got them. No shedding and I washed the foundation brush twice..I LOVE the foundation brush it has already became my fav. I didn't get any shedding at all...yet. and the lip brush was my biggest worry but no shedding there, the face brush is so soft and it blends nicely....I think a want to get all the brush collections heck at the price thy're great investments...
I know what your thinking... These brushes are CHEAP so I know they don't work! WRONG!!! This set of brushes is BETTER than the Studio set that cost $30! I have both sets and you can guess which set is being used and which set is sitting on the shelf some where collecting dust! Unfortunately, I've had to re-glue maybe 1 of the brushes out of the whole set back together but when I purchased the Studio set, I had to re-glue at least 3 and that set isn't as good as this one! If only they can add the flat-headed kabuki brush to this set... This would be the perfect set all the way around!
These are great! I haven't had any trouble with shedding mentioned in previous reviews and they pick up color/blend/cover just like you would expect a more expensive brush from the drugstore to do. NONE of them came apart. I guess since the last reviews they started using better glue? Idk, but everything stayed where it was supposed to. If I had to complain about it, I'd have the save the roughness of the bristles was the most irritating part but if you're going to buy a brush for [$], you can't really complain when it works wonderfully. And they look so professional! Another pro :]
I Love These Brushes; I Bought The Set Of 12 And I Didn't Expect Much For $1 Per Brush; But I Was Amazedddd At The Quality Of These Brushes; They Blew Me Away (: Great For Any Look; And Great Price! I Didn't Have Any Problems Or Defects With My Brushes. They're Simply Greeaaaattttt!*
I use these brushes almost everyday and everytime I use them to do my makeup I get compliments from multiple ppl. I like them because they give me the ability to experiment without paying a hefty price. There are a couple of brushes that I never use but overall this is a GREAT deal.
I use my brush set everyday. Some of the brushes i use more than others but for special ocasion i use the whole set. They are easy to use. The presentation is so cute. My favorite brush is the foundation brush. when i apply my foundation it leaves my face smooth . I just love them.
I use mainly the eyeshadow brushes because I already had other brushes from my previous purchases at various makeup stores. I find that there are too many brushes I find useless, like the eye smudge sponge and eyelash/brush wand. They tend to be unused because there aren't too many uses for me. I think it is a good value, but I would recommend somebody like me, who's already got brush sets of their own, to buy single brushes, not the whole set. Although it is of decent quality, it's not the BEST in the industry, and probably not very useful if you already own a brush set!
These brushes are so amazing and very useful. if you have a budget i would recomend you buy these brushes..... :)
My mom is a makeup diva and has everything you can imagine. I've always been envious of her makeup brushes, but I'm too cheap to go buy them. I saw these, and I figured it wouldn't hurt to try them. They arrived and I seriously spent all day playing with them and learning how they work. I was not disappointed! They are fantastic and soft. My favorites are probably the total face brush and the foundation brush (which works like magic with the ELF Studio Foundation), but my least favorite is the lip brush- it is shedding a little. Otherwise, a killer collection!
I purchased the full set of brushes fully intending to give them to someone as a Christmas gift until I found out another friend had already given them a set. I decided to keep these for myself, and boy am I glad I did. So far every single one of these brushes has worked much better than my expensive set I purchased for 3 times as much. My only complaint is that the handles could be a little sturdier. I had the metal and wooden parts separate on two of the brushes, and I had to put them back together and squeeze the metal to make the handle stay in place.
I've had these brushes for over a month now and have had two of the ferrules come apart from the handle! It's no big deal if you've got the time to super-glue them back into place, and for the money, they are a WHOLE lot better than other brands I've tried. It's true what I'd heard about the eye shadow brushes..... They are AWESOME! Love the regular eye shadow brush and plan on getting several more for back-up! The bristles are tightly packed and it picks up color and pigment like no bodies business! Very nice!!! Also the Total Face brush is super soft and packed full of bristles, will be picking up one or two more of those also! Over all, I'd buy this again because for the money your getting a very good bargain. Hope this was helpful!
I'm usually a MAC or[@] girl, however on my student budget i couldnt afford their brushes. My friend raves about and suggested I try the ELF brushes, so i decided to buy them! I was quite satisfied with the quality i received for the price that I paid. I'm into make-up and these really work. Bare in mind that they are not studio brushes and you get what you pay for. If you're an aspiring MUA, young adult, or now getting into make-up, these are great starter brushes. They do shed, but that's expected because they are of the cheaper but decent brand.
I bought these brushes, not expecting them to be to special, but needing them for travel. I used to work for EL and I had all their brushes, but after a few years, they were definitely in need of replacement. I was amazed at the quality of these brushes and the value for the price! I have two sets of all the brushes, one for my travel bag, and one for home. When the choice comes to spend[$] for a foundation brush, or[$] of the same or equal quality, it doesn't seem like a tough choice! I would, and have recommended these brushes to everyone I know.
Right off, I like that these brushes are cheap (in comparison to other 'professional' brushes), and I like that they're labelled. However, I have two sets of brushes - these, and a gift set I bought at [@] at Christmas time. I have no idea what the [@] brand was, but they are far superior to these elf brushes. The ELF brushes contain brushes that the [@] set doesn't - a foundation brush, for example - but the [@] brushes are noticeable much much softer and don't shed nearly as much, and they also came in a beautiful plain black rollable bag, for about the same price. (Maybe a few dollars more) If you must buy ELF brushes, I would recommend spending a few extra bucks to get ELF studio brushes. These are not soft at all, and are low quality.
Okay, so let's face it... we're in a bad economy so if you need make-up brushes that are okay, buy these. Or, if your a beginner, need something basic, and haven't experienced high quality like MAC, or Bare Esscentuals, then they're great. I liked all the brushes EXCEPT the main face brush and the bronzing brush. So overall, they were okay. I use them on my little cousins to give them make-overs and they love them, so like I said... If your a MAC lover, don't get them, but otherwise, go for it, because they do pretty well considering the price.
These brushes are terrible. -The brushes feel like they are not full enough, like there should be more bristles, but aren't. The angled blush brush in particular feels this way. This also means that they don't pick up a lot of product. -The hair is course and scratchy. -The brushes are shedding terribly. I am afriad to wash them otherwise they'll be nothing left! -The only tools I did like were the eyelash comb/brush (but really, you can't screw that up), and the smudger. I guess the mascara wand is OK but I really don't have a use for it. I haven't decided if this experience has put me off elf brushes for good or if I may try the studio set... I have the powder brush from that line, and it's completely different than these brushes.... we'll see.
the brushes are awesome, they're very soft and the prices are great! i like all of the brushes, except for the concealer brush. the concealer brush is much too small, and it's very stiff and hard. when you try to put concealer on, it actually hurts your face because the brush is so hard, i don't use it at all and am probably gonna toss it in the trash the next time i apply my makeup. other than that, the powder brush, foundation, and eyeshadow brushes are awesome! quality is very nice, especially the eyeshadow brushes they work very well!
I use the ELF brushes to apply make-up for special occassions. Since im a stay at home mom I want to feel glamorous when i step out the house and the ELF brushes really make me feel like a make-up artist. I had three other brands of brushes before which are way more expensive and they simply don't compare to the ELF brushes so i threw them out and now only use ELF. I am extremely satisfied with this product(100%),I recommend it to everyone and i actually bought extra for myself and to give as presents to friends! This product is perfect.
I just got these brushes a few weeks back from online and have been using them everyday since I got them. After the first week of using them, I noticed stray hairs getting on my face when applying makeup, and just yesterday the whole brush of the foundation brush completely came off (and that was the first time I used that particular brush). Overall, I think they are good brushes for someone who is starting out in makeup or just need brushes for 'right now', but for long term use or for professionals they probably won't work for you.
