Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just stop it! Ugh, I really wish e.l.f. would stop selling these brushes altogether.  I know they're only $1 a piece but they are horrible.  This one sheds terribly, doesn't hold a shape after washing and the bristles are too loose and too soft to properly hold product.  For $2 more a piece, go for the black-handled brushes which are FAR superior and excellent quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's pretty good but needs improvement. I needed a new brush so I went to Target and got this. It's pretty good but could use some improvement. It's different then other brushes I get which is good but it's not very soft. I do recommend this to people who need cheap brushes but for people who want good quality brushes, I do not recommend this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very rough Usually I really like ELF brushes (the ones with the black handles) but the "essential" brushes with the white handles are very rough and it feels like sandpaper.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The brushes are full of dye I got some of the red brushes as part of a set, and they're barely worth it on sale. I washed the red tinted brushes with soap and water and the sink water was coming up magenta. I don't need this random extra coloring in the brushes. After washing, they were very ragged looking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tough This brush applies makeup, not well but it does apply it. The brush is super rough and it feels like your putting on your face powder with a piece of sandpaper.   It's not a comfortable brush and I don't recommend it. I got mine Ina set of 10 for $12 because I love elf and though that this product would be as good as all of elfs other products... I have used elf for a long time and this is the only profits that I have disliked. As I said before. I do not  recommended this brush! Spend the extra money and get any other brush from elf  :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So soft, mine hasn't broke. I bought mine at my local dollar store!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Little Density, Low Quality, and Prickly! Because this was my first brush ever, I had nothing to compare it to and really liked it at first. I didn't know what a brush is SUPPOSED to be. I wouldn't compare this to a MAC or anything because it's just way too far off. The density of this brush makes it difficult to apply product and it allows for a high amount of fall out. The bristles are uncomfortable to say the least. It feels like a ton of pine needles on your face. On top of that, the glue does not hold the brushes together and I properly wash my brushes. I bought the 12 piece set about a month ago and five of the brushes have fallen apart due to the glue. Another three brushes I've had to throw away because of all the shedding. This brush did both. It sheds and the glue doesn't stay. The dye in the hairs comes off. Even for a dollar, I would never buy again. It would be much better to spend the extra couple dollars and get the elf studio set. The Real Techniques would be a better budget friendly choice. But seriously, save your money on this brush.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gross! I bought this since my first one's handle completely detached from the brush. This one is even worse. It smells like rubber(even before I had used it in any makeup) and the bristles fall out in clumps! I was very disappointed in this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hurts and Sheds I bought this a few weeks ago and can barely use it it hurts so much. Super scratchy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I bought this about two weeks ago and have only used it once. It sheds terribly. I ended up with bristles on my face and in my product. Its not even worth a dollar.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Save your dollar. I have owned this brush since the summer of 2013, which makes it almost a year since.First of all, this brush is pokey on your face. each bristle is cut in a certain way that it does not feel soft on your face. Second, I wash my brushes at least once a month, and this brush to this day still sheds the red pigment when I wash this. imagine that on your face if you didn't wash it! I only used it with powder products, but with liquid, I am sure it will tint the product pink from the red dye. After all, it was only a dollar. and it does its job very well. it's just that you should buy one of the studio brushes instead since those feel softer on your face. Who wants a pokey brush on purpose? If you really don't mind the texture, dye and can't afford to put in $2 more into a E.L.F. Studio brush, I would recommend this brush! (:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good spare brush for the price! This is good brush for only being $1. There is no way you would get a better brush for this price. I would highly recommend buying this as spare or a travel companion or something similar. Something to keep in the office desk maybe. I wouldn't recommend it as your go to daily brush. It's a bit on the rough side and its a bit too large to get into little areas like under eyes. Probably would make an amazing bronzeR brush though especially for allover body use. It's a staple because you could use it for many other things but I don't recommend it as a powder brush then again that's probably why they have a powder brush.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not the WORST brush in the world.. I am not a beauty expert WHATSOEVER. This was my first and only brush for yeaaars. I used to for my powder foundations, and to blend out my blush and bronzer. Now having a new face brush to compare it to, I can actually form an opinion. First: It is a bit big. I never noticed this until I got a new and different face brush. It doesn't fit in a lot of foundation pans, especially when youve hit pan and only have the edges filled with product left. Second: It's rough. Again, I didn't notice this until I got a new brush and my new brush feels like cashmere compared to this ELF brush. The roughness never bothered me in the years that I used this brush. I have extremely sensitive and dry skin, by the way.Third: I used to just spot treat this brush when I cleaned it. I never deep cleaned it. (I know gross, please forgive me I never knew much about make up until recently.) I deep cleaned this for the first time the other day when I was washing the new brush set that I received. I somehow absolutely destroyed this brush when I deep cleaned it. The hairs got completely tangled and mangled. It's totally unusable now. I know it's not the way that I cleaned it, because my other brushes turned out just fine. Fourth: I didn't notice much shedding. A few hairs here and there. Nothing abnormal for a make up brush. That's about it. For a dollar, it's not the worst thing in a world. Nothing to get enraged about. I wouldn't necessarily purchase this again now that I know that I can get better and inexpensive brushes. But if a new brush happened to make its way back into my collection I wouldn't be bothered or feel despaired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from eats up product This is a lousy brush. Is it the worst brush I've ever used? No. It's rough, but after the first couple of washings, It hasn't shed on me. The reason I've rated it so high is because of its ability to eat up product without placing much of it onto the skin. I have so much makeup and I feel guilty when I buy more without using up what's left of what I have (I guess it's something similar to Project Pan, but unlike Project Pan I use up what I have until it's gone). It's a dollar and the value you get out of it is more emotional/spiritual than material. First, you'll learn firsthand what you DON'T want in a makeup brush. Second, you get the satisfaction of actually finishing a makeup product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I bought this to try it out, since it was only a dollar. The quality matched the price, as right as I took it out of its packaging, a couple of hairs shed off. A bunch more shed off later. It was also scratchy and not as dense or stiff as I hoped. I don't use this brush and would probably only use it in some dire emergency where I don't even have the powder sponge that comes with the powder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The brush is great but it broke... I bought this brush a few months ago and I thought it would be great to use for all over my face. Unfortunately, the brush broke and it was no longer connected to the bottom of the brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repeatedly reliable I have purchased this brush every time I have replaced my makeup brushes since I found this brush. It beats any brush that comes with a makeup product, and it is very worth the value. Since it is sanitary to replace your brushes often, I get to with this brush. I rarely have ever had shedding issues, and it gives me an air-brushed look if I choose the right makeup to apply  (I usually am using this brush with my setting powder). It is great for blending also.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend I purchased this brush and threw it away (I got it for .50 when the whole website was 50% off). I am happy with everything else that I ordered except this brush! I took it out of the packaging and right away knew it's not a good brush. I literally kept pulling out hairs from the brush and finally just threw it in the trash. None of the $3 line of brushes did this that I purchased. I was bummed about this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken! I purchased 5-6 E.L.F. Essential brushes and I REGRET IT. The metal part breaks off the wooden base. It could be fixed with a little glue but I shouldn't need to glue my brushes. They also shed like crazy when applying makeup. I went back and purchased the studio brush line- they are PERF. The studio brushes are softer and high quality. They're worth the extra $2!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I never use it I got this in a free kit a couple months ago.  The bristles aren't soft and the red color comes out when you wash it, but my biggest problem is the size.  It's way too big and awkward for me to even use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! It is so rough on skin and when you wash it for the first time the colour comes out which makes the water all red. Imagine that on your face. Ew...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from AWFUL First off its rough! Not soft at all! Then if you wash it the brush smells like a wet dog!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Get the Studio Brush instead! The only time I would buy this again is if I was desperate and every other brush in the world vanished.  It is very rough, not soft at all, it sheds like crazy, and my handle came apart.  I do not recommend this product, but instead I do recommend the Studio Line brushes that e.l.f. has.  Check those out before buying this one!  There is such an obvious difference in the quality and the Studio line is only $2 more.  Look up a coupon code online and you can get them for about the same price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Upgrade to Studio I bought this at Dollarama because I love this brand and I desperately needed a brush. This was very harsh on my face, it was so rough. Those with sensitive skin should stay away. Though it did dispense the powder just fine, it just felt like he handle was going to break off. It also shed to the point where bristles were left on my face. At $1, I cannot complain, but that dollar can be put towards the wonderful Studio Brushes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost like a stick kabuki I received a lot of E.L.F brushes for my birthday and received this it is great for stippling on your powder! I haven't noticed any of the dye come out and it hasn't shed! I love the sturdy handle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ehh i love all of elf brushes except this one. it sheds a lot and its not the softest thing to put on your face, but then again you can't really complain since it was only a dollar. not a brush to go back to. :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good for now I have bought multiple brushes from this line.  They do shed a lot at first but after a couple times of use it seems to stop.  This particular brush still sheds a bit but it gets the job done.  And you can't really beat the price.  I'll just go for a different face brush next time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken bristles I bought this brush a little while ago, thinking that it would be a decent brush.  Sure I only paid a very small amount for it, however , I was used to paying very little for items from elf.  When I started to use the brush I would find stray pieces of hair on my face.  T first I thought that I must have done something wrong to the brush.   This kept happening.  I washed it gently,  but it just got worse. The bristles would be broken in pieces.  Finally I gave up.  I decided it was a lost cause.  No more of this line of brushes for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Bad I bought this like a week ago and thought one dollar was not bad. I gave it a try and was pleased with the results.I have not had the bristles fall out yet and the brush is fairly made. I mostly use this brush for my Malani Blush and will soon use for my pressed powder.
